I use mouse models to study the impact of long-term voluntary running on the mammallian brain. I have found that exercise enhances the activity of the glymphatic system, which is involved in maintaining brain health by clearance of waste products. This project, therefore, may lead to a better understanding of how to maintain normal brain functions despite neurodegradation caused by disease or aging.
